Jenn endures old memories, new toys, heartbreak, and love rekindled thanks to a lucky bargain find: Parappa the Rapper. Parappa is a game she loved since forever and getting a copy again led to some interesting discoveries. You gotta do what? I gotta believe!!
I fought hard to tear myself away from the Olympics — events progress without me this very second! — since I really had to review the Steel Series Siberia Neckband. It is very pretty and the hidden mic is wonderful. I could even live with the bright white design decision but the sheer weight and quiet microphone meant that this could not be the headset of my dreams. Alas, I must keep searching!
Perhaps you have a PC & 360 headset that you’ve sworn eternal fidelity to? Let me know :)
I made this video for my July Experiment over at JennCutter.com but I thought it was appropriate to post here since it’s basically an impromptu OpenAlpha featuring the multiplayer portion of the new Ghostbusters game :)
I am honestly really tempted to pick up one of the PSP3000s to catch up on all that I have missed… and also to play the games I haven’t been able to play since I am NEVER switching around my PSP1000 with the 1.5 firmware. What can I say? I am very stubborn. I have a very soft spot in my heart for that big old black behemoth thanks to all the good times on Call For Help ;)
Jenn takes a road trip to Virginia and enjoys surfing the Wii Channels and playing with the new Wii Remote Straps as well as some less than graceful replacements. (14:09)
Jenn’s Wii Code: 3426 0037 5492 9721 — I still have a couple of pages left in my address book but please note that if you post your Wii Code below I will be unable to add you until I get back to Toronto late next week :)
Jenn takes a time out from playing with her new toys to share her thoughts on the 360’s Live service while taking a closer look at the Wii friends system and Excite Truck. (13:40)
In this first music game episode Jenn takes a look at beatmania on the PS2 and some of the games it inspires on the PC and PSP. She also takes a stroll down memory lane to the first music game she can remember playing. (17:45)
Feedback: Wanna be a dancing fool? You’ve got options: Dance Dance Revolution, In The Groove, StepMania, Pump it Up! What’s you favourite? What types of songs do you find make your feet happy? Do you think those of us that like these types of games have something wrong in the head? :)
On Jenn’s birthday (today!) she put together a rambling one-shot piece to answer some more FAQs to lead into the new monthly schedule as well as a new Feedback portion of the show. Also *gasp* World of Warcraft! (10:08)
To close out the last dedicated E3 episode Jenn gets guided tours through Crysis, Obsidian Edge, Flight Simulator X, and talks with a Microsoft Rep about things to watch for on the horizon including the presently ethereal ‘Live Anywhere’ service. (12:48)
Proper show notes to come. Before I get the e-mails accusing me of being a Sony hater I have to confess that I wasn’t able to borrow a cameraman during my visit to their booth. Sony has gotten plenty of love from OA through all the PSP coverage when I was accused of being a Nintendo and Microsoft hater anyway ;)
Thanks again to Darren Kitchen from Hak.5 for editing job and Ashley Witt for the OpenAlpha theme.
At E3 Jenn got a few minutes to chat with Al Lowe. Most of you might know him from a little series called ‘Leisure Suit Larry’… except for the last one. He had nothing to do with that. Al talks about his new game development venture, iBase Entertainment, good ol’ Larry, a very strange path to becoming a game designer, and the state of the industry today. A cramped restaurant booth may not be a scenic interview spot but the conversation was definitely worthwhile. (11:33)
Just to head off a few e-mails: I know that I’m not visibly in this one. Crowded restaurant booth at E3 + small table + no camera man = the best I could do with a tripod that wasn’t going to get kicked over by the throngs of people. Huge awesome special thanks to Darren Kitchen from Hak.5 for editing job and Ashley Witt for the new OpenAlpha theme!
